The Music Man is unquestionably one of the most beloved musicals of all time. The original production of The Music Man opened at the Majestic Theatre on December 19, 195 and went on to win five Tony Awards (including Best Musical) and the first Grammy Award for Best Original Cast Album.

Written by Meredith Willson who also wrote the msuic and lyrics, the Music Man is a loving tribute to the small towns of yesteryear.

The Music Man focuses on the story of "Professor" Harold Hill who attempts to con(vince) the people of River City, Iowa into buying musical instruments and uniforms for a boys band that he "promises" to lead. "Professor" Hill's plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the town's uptight librarian. Does he stay or does he run away with the money?

The Music Man's got it all: a great story, lively characters, blossoming romance, and lively toe-tapping music, including such memorable songs as "Ya Got Trouble," "Seventy-Six Trombones," Goodnight My Someone," "Gary Indiana" and "Till There Was You". The Music Man is the Perfect All-American Musical!
